Mary and Howie got married in the Woodland Discovery Centre in Ecclesall woods with the reception over at Whirlow Hall Farm barn. It was a very informal but intimate ceremony in a room that opened out onto the woods. Family had travelled from all over and everyone seemed delighted to be there to celebrate these two.
The weather was a bit rainy ... luckily I'd laid my hands on some rainbow umbrellas that week and they came in quite handy. Alas the rain called off the walk that was planned between venues as the mud was just too bad. But despite the showers, it was a super day with a very relaxed and playful atmosphere.
There were DIY touches galore, including what must have been miles of handmade bunting by Howie's mum, and a table of different cakes made by various guests. I loved all the woodlandy details that came through in the flowers and orders of service. The ushers also did a grand job of keeping everything running smoothly (as is often the way with DIY weddings -- well done guys) and everyone was able to let their hair down once the ceilidh band got going.
It was a lovely day to be a part of.
