So - the wedding of Nina and Jon, on the February weekend that unexpectedly seemed to usher in Spring with its bright skies and warm temperatures. It was also the day I gave Claudia Winkleman a very bemused look as I tried to work out if it was actually her I was passing in a Soho street. (It was).
So - a few of my favourite things
1) The venues: Getting ready in The Deanstreet Townhouse was a treat with all its interesting little details, and the decommissioned church which is now The Amadeus Centre offered its balcony pews and pipe organ to the wedding setting.
2) Nina's dress by Candy Anthony: I do love the tea length, especially with a fulsome petticoat - it looks wonderful and is remarkably practical for not getting dusty hems. It suited Nina perfectly.
3) The ceremony: Nina and Jon did the official bit a few days before which meant there was freedom to do whatever they liked in the ceremony. It was officiated by the father of one of Nina's childhood friends who created a lovely intimate atmosphere and reverently led the room through the meaning of the day.
4) All the little touches, many handmade by Nina: the orders of service, table plan and wall banner were made in the stylings of Rob Ryan; the place names were all made from scrabble tiles tirelessly collected from secondhand shops and bootsales; and the table decorations were hand folded origami kusudama flowers (which must have taken hours to construct).
Here's a big super duper 'cheers' to you both. Many congratulations.
