Jon and Becky got married at the end of August in Selby where Becky grew up. Her parents own a farm there (along with a holiday cottage http://www.lundfarm.co.uk/) which provided the reception venue. Becky was lovingly chided for planning a back-yard wedding during harvest season. It was a busy time for all concerned but everyone chipped in, including Becky's Grandad whose cottage supplied all of the electricity for the marquee.
The weather was good in all the right places, only throwing it down late in the evening, but allowing plenty of sunshine for croquet, boules and badminton.
A few of my favourite things:
Hay bales a plenty, and a whole pile of blankets for huddling under and sitting on which I thought was a lovely touch.
There were a lot of people that I knew at this wedding so I got to have a few nice catch-ups - sometimes with people who've somehow developed families on the verge of high school since the last time I saw them.
The family nature of the whole thing - so much effort had been put in by family and friends to make the day happen, both in the organising, creating and hosting. But there was also a strong sense of community from all corners of this wedding. I was sat with a some of Becky's parents friends, who had met Becky's parents when pregnant at the same time. A couple of them had gone on teach Becky at school when she was a nipper and I loved the sense of local community they all seemed to have maintained. Jon and Becky's church community from Sheffield were also there in abundance and made the church service what it was.
All the best you two.
