Welcome to the wedding of Pat and Liz - amongst the chattiest and friendliest people I've ever met.
A few of my favourite things:
1. The brass band. Just one of the many contacts of Pat the groom, and the Woodhouse Band did a sterling job in setting a jolly atmosphere for the ceremony at Sheffield City Hall. I particularly liked them breaking in to "Congratulations" as the register was signed (who doesn't love a bit of vintage Cliff!).*
2.The speeches. I learnt A Lot about Pat. This is often something I enjoy, hearing the stories of couples that I haven't heard in getting to know them - it's just that this time, those stories raised the bar both in comic timing and outrageousness. If only I could repeat some of it here, but what happens in wedding speeches, stays in wedding speeches. Thems the rules.
3. The sword. I've not seen a genuine sword being used to open champagne bottles or cut cake before.
4. The fish and chip van. A grand idea for late night munching. Hit just the spot as the night drew in.
Now, onto the highlights ...
* On this note, after being reminded of Little Fluffy Clouds in my last blog post, a friend requested I suggest a soundtrack to each post. Well I couldn't find an online version of a brass band playing Congratulations, but in my search for something appropriate I found some traditional brass band jollification here should the whim take you. (And I also found some less traditional brass band funkification that's had me dancing round my kitchen this morning).
